Columbia University Computer Science Department

I was born and grew up in Mumbai, India. While in school I participated in a number of extra-curricular activities both arts and sports. I love dancing (I don't excel at it). Samples of my performances at IITB and Columbia.

I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC on October 26th, 2008. I have dedicated this marathon for the education and well-being of underprivileged children in India. Please click here to read my personal statement and/or make a donation.

I trained with Asha for Education's marathon training program. To know more about Team Asha, please visit our website.

I am married to Laukik Watve. We live in New York city and absolutely love it here. We live in the Morningside Heights neighborhood in Manhattan, removed from the hustle-bustle of downtown Manhattan but steps away from it. We enjoy walking/running in Central Park and the Hudson Riverside Park, watching Broadway shows, listening to live music in the pubs of East Village, and trying out different cuisines.

Favorite quotations:

  • "If you want to run, then run a mile. If you want to experience another life, run a marathon." - Emil Zatopek

  • "There are roughly three New Yorks. There is, first, the New York of the man or woman who was born there, who takes the city for granted and accepts its size, its turbulence as natural and inevitable. Second, there is the New York of the commuter - the city that is devoured by locusts each day and spat out each night. Third, there is New York of the person who was born somewhere else and came to New York in quest of something... Commuters give the city its tidal restlessness, natives give it solidity and continuity, but the settlers give it passion." - E. B. White

  • "Stay hungry. Stay foolish." -Steve Jobs
