Wei-Jen Li            Email:

Welcome to Wei-Jen's homepage. My friends also call me Larry.

I got my Bachelor's degree of Mechanical Engineering at National Central University in Taiwan, and my Master's degree at Columbia University.

I'm a Ph.D. Student in Computer Science of Columbia University.

I'm working in the Intrusion Detection System lab now.

I had worked on Email Mining Toolkit (EMT), Fileprint, and few other projects.

Currently, I'm working on SPARSE which will be my Ph.D. thesis in 2007.

SPARSE stands on Statistical Parser for files and documents. It was an extension of Fileprint; however, since Fall 2006, it has been "upgraded" to "data-driven malicious document detection."

Thesis Proposal:

Data-Driven Detection of Malicious Documents Will be presented on Jan. 17th.

Something about life...

"Consider God's handiwork: who can straighten what He hath made crooked?"

                                         Ecclesiastes 7:03

Humans are not perfect, and they believe God made this for some reasons.

Computers are full of problems; they crash and popup nobody-can-understand

stupid popup messages. Do humans make them like this for some reasons?

I have to be strong; otherwise, no one respects me. This is not different from animals.

I don't like, but I have to agree with it. Levelism and class consciousness, these are

what men fight and struggle for.

You lost if you lost; you also lost if you didn't fight.

God created dinosaurs. God destroyed dinosaurs. God created human. God....

Human created computers. Computers enslave human.

"Those who do not read are no better off than those who cannot read." A quote from somewhere I don't remember.

"I was the world in which I walked, and what I saw.

Or heard or felt came not but from myself;

And there I found myself more truly and more strange."

A quote from NewYorkTimes, but I forgot who wrote it.

There are only two things you know about computers. First, double click to make it working;

And then, double click but it doesn't work.

If you are not beautiful like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise (etc.) , and a woman says "I do" in your face...

It means either "I do love your money" or "I do not have any better choice."

Wisdom begins when a man finds out that he does not know what he thinks he knows.

New York Times:

They Got (Video) Game; N.B.A. Finals Can Wait
In that vein, many young people who enjoy sports games do become fans of sports franchises. The friends playing in Bushwick, for instance, could rattle off their favorite teams and players. Of course, they would rather inhabit the stars than simply watch them. "I like Kobe, O.K.?," Albert Arce said, referring to Kobe Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers star. "But I like to play him because I can make him pass to the other guys. When I see him on TV, it's like he doesn't know how to pass."

What's the similarities between worms and human beings?
They both make damage to the world.
They both do self-replicating. "Self" means to do things without getting help from other species.
What's the differences between worms and human beings?
Human beings get advantages from both making and killing worms.
What's wrong with those worms? They just want to survive.
What's wrong with people? They kill everything  that they don't like.

And they make worms because they don't like other people.

I am an ordinary man who has nothing to lose.
