CRF Computer Accounts

MS and Undergraduate Students

· Because of payment processing and sponsor approval, CS account activation can take as long as 2-4 business days. So do this early.

· When filling out the account application, please use the university UNI as your username. (This will usually be same as your AcIS login ID.)

· CS Accounts fees are $50 per semester.

· If you are doing research for a CS professor, please select your professor as the sponsor for the CS account. (You will be exempt from paying the accounts fees.) Once you apply for the account, your sponsor will be notified to approve your account sponsorship. After your sponsor approves the account, we’ll create/extend your CS account.

· If you are TA’ing a course, please select the TA coordinator as your sponsor. (You will be exempt from paying the accounts fees.)

· Pick a password that is between 6-8 characters. Information regarding selecting a secure password is linked from the application page.

· Select your payment option:

o Credit Card: You will be redirected to www.kagi.com to pay for the CS account. We will activate your account once we receive payment confirmation from Kagi. (May take 2-4 business days, so do this early.)

o Other: If you are exempt from paying the account fees (i.e. you have a sponsor), select this option.

o If you are paying cash for the account fees in person, please select “Other” as the payment option, and select “Patricia Hervey” as your sponsor. After submitting your application, please go to 450 CSB (Front Office) to make your payment. Remember to ask for your receipt and contact CRF to process your account.

· If you’ve paid for the CS account through Kagi, but you realize you no longer need the CS account, send an email to: refund@kagi.com

· If you don’t hear anything back from us within 2-3 business days, or have questions, please e-mail crf@cs.columbia.edu

· Usually the account activations are delayed because the sponsors don’t approve the accounts.

PhD Students

· Because of sponsor approval, CS account activation can take as long as 2-4 business days. So do this early.

· Please select your advisor as the Sponsor.

· You can choose your username, within reason. (e.g. devans for David Evans)

o It can be up to 8 characters

o It cannot be an existing username: (e.g. hgs@cs.columbia.edu)

· Select payment type as: Other

· Once your sponsor approves your account, your account will be created overnight.
