Clinical infrastructure

The results obtained so far demonstrated that it is possible to extract useful medical knowledge from MEDLINE citations and the pilot study showed a relatively good specificity and sensitivity for the intended purposes of this project. We believe that it can serve for the task of retrieving relevant information from the electronic medical record in order to guide the users during the retrieval process. Automated knowledge extraction, and improving the retrieval of relevant information from the mass of material available electronically, especially MEDLINE, is a difficult goal and can be an important contribution to the field.
