Multimedia resource summarization

Our research will result in a system to automatically generate a textual summary over multiple documents that highlights information within the documents relevant to the particular patient's case. This will provide novel techniques advancing the summarization field by allowing the presentation of personalized information to both clinicians and patients. Our work will provide summaries that patients and their families can understand by changing the wording of the summary to use more familiar terminology in place of confusing medical jargon. Our results to date show that we are able to filter the results from a single document and, in addition, provide an automatically constructed lexicon of definitions of technical terms.
