Tal Malkin: Statement for IACR Board Election

I have been a member of the IACR for over 20 years. I regularly publish in the three flagship conferences, I co-chaired CRYPTO and TCC program committees, am the chair of the TCC steering committee, and hosted PKC and two Real World Crypto meetings at my home institution, Columbia University. I am also an IACR fellow.

IACR is my main professional community, but I am also part of the larger theory and security communities (e.g., I co-chaired ACM CCS, CT-RSA, ACNS, and was on the program committees for FOCS, STOC, CCS, Usenix Security, PETS, Financial Cryptography, and others).

I am running for the board of directors since I want to give back to the community, and help set its direction as we grow and change. My top priorities are:

  • High-quality research in all cryptographic areas, fostering an open, stimulating, and responsible research culture.
  • Maintaining a community that is supportive and welcoming to members from all backgrounds, research interests, and geographic locations. Particularly close to my heart are students and junior researchers.
