| This depends on whether the location server is co-located with the SIP registrar or not. If it is, a functional interface (API) suffices to save the location information and any registration payload. If it is not, any protocol or middleware like CORBA, LDAP, RPC, or a database access protocol (e.g., SQL over TCP), can be used.
