RESEARCH EXPERIENCE                                                       

2005.7 ~ present Measurement of the Capacity for VoIP traffic in IEEE 802.11 via   Experiments

             Measured the capacity for VoIP traffic in a test-bed using actual wireless nodes and analyzed the results.

2005.7 ~ present Call Admission Control in IEEE 802.11 Wireless Networks using Virtual   Traffic Generation

                        Developed a novel call admission control algorithm called QP-CAT, which predicts the delay of VoIP traffic precisely and performs admission control efficiently.

2006.3 ~ 2006.12 Measurement and Analysis of IEEE 802.11 WLAN Traffic in the Large

Measured 802.11 WLAN traffic in the IETF meeting 2006 and analyzed the load balancing and handoff behavior of wireless clients and the APs.

2005.4 ~ 2006.5 Adaptive Priority Control (APC) for VoIP traffic in IEEE 802.11 Wireless Network

               APC balances the uplink and downlink delay by improving the fairness between uplink and downlink adaptively. It also improves the capacity for VoIP traffic in IEEE 802.11 Wireless Networks.

2004.10~2005.11 Passive Duplicate Address Detection (P-DAD) in DHCP

             Proposed a framework for DHCP server to detect duplicate IP addresses without incurring additional delay to clients, when a new IP is requested. This enables clients to do L3 handoff faster.

2004.1~2005.7 Seamless Layer 2 Handoff in IEEE 802.11 using Two Radios

             Achieved seamless layer 2 handoff using two radios and passive scanning, and proposed Selective Passive Scanning to reduce the false handoff possibility.

2004.8~2005.7 Seamless handoff between subnets in Wireless Networks

Created an algorithm for reducing L3 handoff time, and implemented it using a DCHP client and hostAP driver in Linux.

2004.3~Present Improving Capacity of VoIP in IEEE 802.11 Wireless Networks

Created a modified PCF scheme, Dynamic PCF, and implemented it in QualNet Simulator and verified Dynamic PCF improved the capacity of VoIP by 20%.

 

 

 

2003.9~2004.2 Fast L2 handoff in IEEE 802.11 Wireless Networks

Created a novel algorithm for seamless L2 handoff and implemented the algorithm with hostAP driver, and reduced handoff time to 2~4 ms. This technology is patented, and received a 2004 Product of the Year Award from INTERNET TELEPHONY ¢ç magazine (www.itmag.com). Also, I implemented the algorithm in a Broadcom wireless card chipset.

2003.1~2003.8 Development of SIP VoIP client in PDA

Implemented a VoIP client that supports Instant Message and Presence in SHARP Zaurus PDA using CINEMA library.

2002.6~2002.12 Implementation of SIP Servlet API 1.0

Implemented SIP Servlet API 1.0, and upgrade of SIP servlet user policy in SIP proxy server using the API.

2002.1~2002.5 Implementation of SIP Servlet API 0.5

Implemented SIP Servlet API 0.5 and integrated the SIP Servlet into our SIP proxy server for allowing user to create user specific call control policies.
