Shari Coulter Ford has been a corporate executive, an entrepreneur, and a non-profit board chair and board member in her career.
Currently, she is the Executive Director of NYC Tech Connect (http://nyctechconnect.com), a public-private partnership funded by the Partnership for New York City Fund (http://fund.pfnyc.org), the Partnership for New York City (http://pfnyc.org) and the New York City Council. The mission is to develop a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem in NYC in the hard sciences (e.g. biosciences, materials, programmable hardware). NYC Tech Connect collaborates with universities and strategic partners to provide programs, expertise and resources designed to accelerate the development of entrepreneurs and their resulting startups.
Previously, Shari launched and helped in the launch of several startup technology companies (including NYC-based Vizibility). Shari has also worked as a consultant to the Kauffman Foundation on multiple initiatives. From 1999 to 2003, she was President and CEO of New York Technology Accelerators LLC (a Partnership for New York Fund portfolio company), which was New York City’s first university-based technology incubator. Prior to the Accelerator, Shari spent 13 years with PR Newswire, a division of London-based United Business Media (FTSE 100). Shari held several executive and senior management positions at PR Newswire. Her last role was President of PR Newswire International, an aggressive startup business unit.
Shari is a graduate of the Wharton Management program at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and has a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
