Getting a remote display to work off cunix

  1. SEtup Xserver on Windows
    1. Download one, for example Xwin32, from Xwin32 website there is a free evaluation version
    2. they should email you a link , once you download and install, it should place a little X in your system tray
  2. Setup PUTTY:
    1. Download Putty
    2. DONT run the cunix session, start the main putty program
    3. Click on SSH->TUNNELS, and choose 'Enable X11 Forwarding'
    4. Click on session, hostname = cunix.cc.columbia.edu
    5. Give the session a name in the saved session box, click on save
    6. click on the session to log in
