An Informal talk on Semantic Parsing and its application to Question Answering

In which Dan will chat about work at Boulder on statistical semantic parsing, the use of FrameNet and PropBank as training data, recent directions toward applying this to Chinese, and, most important, what the heck this has to do with question answering anyhow. This work is very much in progress, incomplete, etc etc hedge hedge. My superb research collaborators on this project include but are not necessarily limited to: Dan Gildea, Valerie Krugler, Jim Martin, Martha Palmer, Sameer Pradhan, and Wayne Ward.
