Here follows a short introduction to the majordomo Bulgarian listserver at Columbia University:
There are 6 mailing lists currently available: BG-MISC, BG-ANNOUNCE, BG-LING, BG-COMP, BG-TABLA, and BG-WWW.
BG-MISC Bulgarian listserv - miscellaneous BG-ANNOUNCE Bulgarian listserv - announcements BG-COMP Bulgarian listserv - computers BG-LING Bulgarian listserv - linguistics BG-TABLA Bulgarian listserv - tabla BG-WWW Bulgarian listserv - world-wide web
BG-WWW will be used for the announcements for changes and updates to the Bulgarian Universe and the "all about Bulgaria" Web page (http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~radev/bulgaria). All people who subscribe to the BG Universe mailing list at the moment will be automatically transferred to BG-WWW. From that point on, everyone should be able to subscribe and unsubscribe using the excellent majordomo mailing list server interface.
BG-ANNOUNCE can be used for miscellaneous announcements - of net happenings (IRC, magdanoz, ...), of meeting, conferences, new mailing lists, sports scores and schedules, etc. WWW-related announcements should be posted to BG-WWW instead.
BG-COMP is a forum for Bulgarians and computers - the topics include but are not limited to: software problems, cyrillic software, graduate studies and research, computer jobs, computer-related humor...
BG-LING is for Bulgarians interested in Linguistics and Natural Language Processing. Interesting announcements related to human languages in general (especially Bulgarian) are also welcome.
BG-TABLA is for announcements and discussions related to the ultimate game of Gods - "tabla", also known as backgammon.
BG-MISC is for other Bulgarian-related (even political) discussions, humor, sports, flames, etc.
All 6 lists will be unmoderated at the beginning. If need arises, one or more of them can become moderated.
You can subscribe by sending mail to majordomo@cs.columbia.edu
In the ***body*** of the message put one or more of the following lines:
subscribe bg-www subscribe bg-announce subscribe bg-comp subscribe bg-ling subscribe bg-tabla subscribe bg-misc
To un-subscribe, the procedure is the same as for subscription, with the command "unsubscribe" instead.
