Grading

Students will have several components to their assessment.

45%

There will be several programming projects that are related to the material taught in the class. Projects will be done in pairs, and pairs will change for each project.

25%

There will be a survey paper required on a broad topic related to the course but not explicitly covered in the course. Survey papers will be written individually.

20%

There will be a research paper review, in which students are expected to read, understand, and present a research paper related to the material of the course.

10%

Attendance. All students who miss two or fewer classes will get full credit for this component. Students lose 5% for the third missed class, and 5% more for the fourth missed class. (A student who misses five or more classes will fail the course. ) See the instructor if you have special circumstances such as a medical emergency or a religious observance.
