Professional

I am now a Member of the Technical Staff at Aster Data Systems.

Academic

In December of 2009 I successfully defended my dissertation, Architecture-sensitive Database Query Processing on Chip Multiprocessors, completing a PhD in Computer Science at Columbia University that I began in 2004. During my years as a PhD student, I was also a Department of Homeland Security Graduate Research Fellow from 2005 to 2008.

In June 2004 I graduated from Stanford University with a major in Computer Science. I also minored in Political Science and completed a senior honors thesis in international security studies at The Center for International Security and Cooperation.

I attended Whitefish Bay High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin and graduated valedictorian in 2000.

Personal

I am a native of Wisconsin and grew up in Whitefish Bay, a small suburb of Milwaukee. In high school I was a member of the math, computer science, volleyball, and tennis teams. I enjoy playing tennis, volleyball, and golf in my spare time.

While an undergraduate at Stanford University I was a member of the Stanford Solar Car Project and participated in the 2001 American Solar Challenge, a solar car road race from Chicago to Los Angeles along historic Route 66. That same year I also appeared on the college tournament edition of the Hollywood Squares, finishing second. I have never been a fan of the show, but the tryouts seemed like a fun thing to do on a slow night at school, and in retrospect I doubt I will ever again win a prize for playing tic-tac-toe.

I married Alisa Eagleston on June 25th, 2005. We loved living in New York and had a great time taking walks in central park, attending shows, and eating great food. We're also thrilled to be back in California, enjoying good weather year-round and life on the left coast.
