WaveLAN Driver Modifications

The Lucent WaveLAN wireless (802.11) Ethernet devices are supported by kernel drivers for FreeBSD and Linux. The project goal is to modify these to allow applications to detect when the mobile host has moved from one base station to another.

• Modify the FreeBSD driver, written by Bill Paul, to work on Linux.
• Add an ioctl() which allows applications to find out the identity of the current base station.
• Create a pseudo-device that allows an application to read the new base station address and possibly other information whenever it changes.
