TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

In May of 1992 Drexel Hallaway accepted to come to London to take part in the series of concerts which we organize at Sotheby's on New Bond Street.  He was scheduled to sing a short group of American songs as part of a musical celebration of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America, before a distinguished black-tie audience including officials from the U.S. Embassy.

On the night of the concert an accident prevented the string ensemble from performing the major part of the concert and Mr. Hallaway stepped in to perform the entire concert with our pianist and music director Alan Kogosowski.

I can not speak highly enough of the quality of his impromptu performance in which he not only sang music not rehearsed, but graced it with a commentary which gave the evening a sense of wholeness and continuity.

This unexpected solo performance not only saved the concert, but was considered by many to be the outstanding musical event of our season.

Mr. Hallaway's voice, poise and musical understanding is of the highest order.

Sincerely,
