| New Dial Plan
You must now dial a 9 before any phone number that is going off campus, e.g. 912125551212. For CS phone numbers you dial only the four digit extension, as in 6xxx or 7xxx. For Columbia University campus numbers you can do five digit dialing as in 1xxxx, 3xxxx, or 4xxxx for 212-85[134]-xxxx phone numbers.

| Put a Call on Hold | | 3com Phones: | 1. While you are on a call, press Hold.
2. The display icon or button light for line 1 or line 2 blinks.
3. To return to the call, press the hold or line button.

2. The display screen will highlight the call and blink.
3. To return to the call, press the hold button.

| Transfer a Call | | 3com Phones: | 1. While you are on a call, press Transfer.
2. Dial the number to which you want to transfer the call.
3. As soon as you hear ringing, press Transfer (for a blind transfer), or wait until the recipient answers, announce the call, press Transfer, and then hang up.

| Make A Three Way Call | | 3com Phones: | 1. Place or receive a call. Two parties are now on the call.
2. While you are on the first call, press Conference button.
3. Dial the third party, wait for that party to answer, and
press Conference button again.
| | Cisco Phones: | 1. During a call, press the Confrn soft key. This will automatically select a new line and place the other party on hold. 2. Place a call to another number. 3. When the call connects, press Join again to add this party to the 3-way call.

| Adjust the Volume | | 3com Phones: | 1. Handset - Lift the handset and repeatedly press the louder or softer button.
2. Speaker - Press . Repeatedly press the louder or softer button. 3. Ringer - While the telephone is ringing, repeatedly press the louder or softer button.

| Mute a Call | | 3com Phones: | During a call, press the Mute button. You can hear the caller, but the caller cannot hear you. To cancel, press the Mute button.

| Forward Incoming Calls Directly to Voice Mail | | 3com Phones: | Press Feature + 440. The display shows Fwd Voice Mail. All incoming calls are forwarded to your voice mail message box. | Switch Your Telephone to Do Not Disturb | | 3com Phones: | Press Feature + 446. The display shows Do Not Disturb. All incoming calls go directly to your call coverage point (by default, voicemail). | Park a Call (Only 3com) | | 3com Phones: | 1. While you are on a call, press Feature + 444. 2. Enter one of the extensions reserved for Call Park or press Feature + 444 again to use the default Call Park extension. The default Call Park numbers are 800 through 899, inclusive.
a. The call is parked until someone retrieves it, the caller hangs up, or the Call Park timer expires (the default is 5 minutes). b. If the extension you chose is busy, the system assigns another Call Park extension. c. If the Call Park timer expires, the system rings the extension that parked the call.
