After starting Outlook Express, select Tools → Accounts

Either add a new mail account or open the Properties of your already existing account

Select Servers and set your IMAP and SMTP server. Mine is bear, yours may be different. Check the box that says ‘My server requires authentication’. Click on the Settings button to the right of this box.
Here you should set the Logon Information to ‘Use
same settings as my incoming mail server’ and click on ‘OK’.

Back in the account properties box, select the
‘Advanced’ tab and check the boxes to use secure connections for both Outgoing and
Incoming mail service. The ports should be 25 and 993 respectively, as below.
I also set my ‘Server Timeouts’ to 2 minutes, this can be adjusted depending on
you situation. I found 1 minute too short and my server would disconnect,
especially from home. Click on the ‘OK’ box and you should be set!
