The International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) was established in 1960 under UNESCO. It is an umbrella organization for national societies working in the field of information technology. It has 13 Technical Committees.
The TC1, Foundations of Computer Science, was established in 1989.
The WG 1.1 was established in 1992. Its goals are to:
- Promote fundamental research in continuous algorithms and complexity
- Engage in applied research in various engineering disciplines
