Columbia University had a strong presence in Los Angeles for SIGGraph 2005. Among the Columbia affiliates where some present students (Aner Ben-Artzi, Bo Sun, Ryan Overbeck, Kalyan Sunkavalli, Akash Garg, and Dhruv Manjan), as well as newcomers who would soon be starting at Columbia in the fall (Miklos Bergou, Charles Han, and David Harmon).
Aner, being an LA native, organized some transportation, and got everyone out for a true taste of Southern California -- In-N-Out burgers. Everyone piled into the car and we headed out for lunch on Monday.
After the conference, we rounded up as many people as we could again, and went to dinner t Universal City Walk. Aner made reservations for "The Pope Room" at Buca di Beppo, which provided a contstant source of entertainment.
We then walked around the promenade for a while, before heading back to the hotels.
