JSanity: Jini Environment Sanity Check Package

Overview

JSanity is a collection of utility classes for performing Jini environment sanity checks. It is meant as a tool for assisting new programmers in checking their environment, as well as more advanced programmers dealing with deployment in environments where services (e.g. URL access, multicast) may not be available.

The current release includes the following classes:

RMICheck : checks for RMI security manager, and RMI codebase URL access
MulticastCheck : checks for multicast network connectivity (local)
ActivationCheck : checks for RMI activation daemon execution
LookupCheck : checks for discovery of a lookup service

Licensing

The JSanity code is supplied with a dual BSD/SCSL license. This is not reflected in the documentation of the current release, but will be added in the next one. If you need confirmation of this, please send me e-mail.

- OS specific multicast checks : initial support for Linux, Solaris, Win2000.
