Research

Work on the NetServ project began in Spring 2009. Since then, the project has produced some very interesting research problems, as well as some major findings.

Among the key interesting research work that has been produced in the NetServ work so far:

Node implementation

  • Use of Java technologies to augment router extensibility
  • Study of resource allocation and security issues

Applications

  • Local caching of HTTP streaming services
  • HTTP and DNS interception for CDN technologies
  • In-network flow aggregation and dynamic multicast

About NetServ

To address the limitations of services in the current Internet, this work presents a clean slate Internet architecture, called NetServ, based on the concepts of service virtualization.
