M.S. Registration for Courses Needing Approval

  • Some courses can only be registered for with instructor or advisor approval.
  • Fill out a hard-copy add-drop registration form to register for such courses.
    • You will need to get the instructor's and Dean Tiffany Simon's signature on the form.
    • If you are registering for an elective course that needs advisor approval or for an undergraduate-level course, you will also need your C.S. faculty advisor's approval (your advisor is allocated to you based on which concentration track you select).
    • Fill out the relevant sections of the add-drop form.
      • Enter your student information, the course number and prefix (normally E or W), the call number, the section number, and the number of credits.
      • If you are registering for a project course, each instructor has their own section number that applies to all of their project courses (COMS W4901, E6901, and E9910) and a specific call number for each project course.
        • The instructor will give you their call number when you get their approval to register for their project course.
        • You and your instructor decide upon which level course and how many credits you take.
MS Add-Drop Form
  • Once you have completed the form and gathered the necessary signatures, submit it in person to the Registrar's Office in Kent Hall.
