Abstract
Progress in graphics computations and network capabilities has created opportunities to create enormous, complicated virtual environments. New technical innovations are necessary to create and interact with such virtual environments. For example, live video of real scenes is sometimes used together with virtual objects generated by computer graphics to create a virtual environment with high reality. However, interaction with large, complex virtual environments also requires new sophisticated techniques for navigation within immersive environments and as manipulation of virtual/real objects. In my talk I shall introduce our approach toward advanced interaction with 3-D environments using integrated multimedia. Topics include an intuitive navigation technique for enormous virtual environments, creation of multimedia contents using virtual objects and live movies of real objects, and object manipulation using virtual tools.
